TEXAS PHOTOGRAPHER WINS MASTER PHOTOGRAPHER AWARD

The Professional Aerial Photographer’s Association (“PAPA International”) has awarded Kevin Butts, President of San Antonio-based Red Wing Aerial Photography ("Red Wing") with it’s prestigious Master Photograper Award at it’s annual conference in Atlanta, Georgia on March 12, 2015.   The Master Award is the highest award that can be earned by a member of PAPA International. To qualify for this award, the individual must illustrate a well-rounded knowledge of aerial photography. Before founding Red Wing, Butts spent fifteen years in the commercial real estate lending business, working for Frost Bank and Broadway Bank in San Antonio. His passion for aerial photography began in 2004 soon after earning his pilot’s license, having provided complimentary aerial images of commercial real estate projects he had financed to a few of his banking clients. “After spending fifteen years studying real estate deals mostly without the benefit of aerial photos, I quickly learned how valuable good aerial photos could be in evaluating and marketing a real estate transaction” said Butts. Red Wing Aerial Photography was conceived soon after and displaced his banking career as business quickly grew from a fun, part-time business to a demanding full-time career. The company operates its own fleet of airplanes but also performs aerial photo and video work from rental helicopters when called-for.  Red Wing will also be offering aerial drone photography services once the FAA legalizes commercial drone use which is expected by the end of 2016.  From its San Antonio and Dallas offices, Red Wing Aerial Photography serves the entire State of Texas as well as parts of Louisiana, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and New Mexico.
